Shots of Cambodian Life

While driving to Beng Meala and the Silk Farm, We got to see the country life. It was very interesting. Like the whole commiunity working in the fields, or the hunderd live chickens go to market, or the pig on the bike, or how about the big water buffalo that won't get off the raod for us.

Silk Farm

Well we were in a land that makes hand woven silk material. So mum wanted to go to a silk farm. The silk farm was about 10 Km out of town. It was fun getting to as the road was very bad. But we made it. Mum enjoying herslf , while the guide and Me had problems keeping up with her.

Beng Meala

Beng Meala is a temple about 70 Km from Seim Reap. So we went with a Guide and a taxi for a day trip out to it. This temple was only found about 10 years ago. They have finished clearing the mines and made a few starter ramps for people, The rest is upto you to go and explore this temple in the jungle. The guide that was with us made sure that all snakes and deadly things were out of the way, It meant a lot of climbing, but we did it. It was a lot of fun..

Floating Village on river in Cambodia

While in Cambodia we got to explorer a floating village. This village moves with the shoreline. As the lake expands the boats move with it, and visa versa. This is a unique lifestyle to live in. The Family eat fish from the lake, sleep on the lake, wash and clean in the lake. the kids play in the lake as well. It was a great afternoon adventure.

Bayon Temples

Bayon Temple is inside Angkor Thom. It is the temple with all the faces. 56 towers with four faces craved on each tower. They are in the process of restoring this one..

South gate to Angkor Thom.

Angkor Thom is the biggest of the wall city tmeples. It's about 4Km across. In side is about 6 temples but to get to them you have pass through one of four gates. this one is the South gate. And the best preserved of them..

Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat is just one of the temple in the Angkor complex. But it is the best restored and most visited. We spent most of a day there in a morning before going on Bayon. It was biult about 800 years ago. It would have been bigger that anything else that europe would have had at that time. We loved walking around and seeing all the carvings and sulptures that were there. I was a great place to visit. Mum didn't get to the top of it but I did. Lost my Thialand hat when I was up there. I leant out to take a pciture and my hat dropped off. More pictures to come.

Cambodia, temples of old.

Well we're back from Cambodia. The temples were fantastic to see and the country side was great to. We went in the rainy season but only once caught the edge of a shower, still didn't slow us or the driver down. We stayed at a nice small hotel, the package included a tuk-tuk for transport every day, breakfast which was mostly croissants and fruits, and free massage’s. The pool was just right to. I’ll put more picture of the Floating Village, Old Market, Angkor temples and of course my favourite was Beng Meala (an unrestored temple about 70 Kms out of town). I got mum up in a balloon, in a little boat and climbing through the jungle ruins of a temple. So you can be proud of your Mum she did it all. Mum brought lots of silk etc. so she off to sew her heart out… Cambodia is a wonderful place starting to be developed into a tourist trap, but not yet.. We loved it all. May go back one day soon as well

Quiet over here

Wells it's quiet over here, we are trying to save for the trip to Cambodia in a couple of weeks Got this picture of mum outside a material shop and she wasn't allowed to buy anything.. Silk in Cambodia is what she keeps telling herslf.

Orchid Garden

Kuala Lumpurs orchid gardens, we had been told was not worth visting. But then we got told differently recently. So we decide to check it out ourselves. A very Nice clean and well kept garden with lots of orchid plants on display and for only 1RM each. was well worht the visit.

Pudu market

Stephan and Myself went Pudu market, This market is a lot bigger then a local one. But most things that we see at the local market are there too. The meat Section is a lot bigger but not so clean. The vegetables were a lot abundant as well. Less clothes stalls as this was more a Food market for the City dwellers.
