Ward Picnic

On Saturday we had the ward picnic. It was great just to relax and do just about nothing. with friends and family

The Church kids all enjoyed themselves with a large water fight after lunch to finish it off. With the temperature being in the mid 30's it was a great way for them to cool down.

Blue Lotus Water Gardens

The blue lotus water gardens are open for show from about mid December until mid March.
Last year we missed out due to to much happening around us with the moving into a new house.

So this year, the plans were made. they are in Yarra Junction , ands that about 1:40 minutes away (1:55 min if there is an accident on the freeway)

The gardens are bordered by two streams that supply plenty of water from the nearby hills. The gardens are for water plants with plenty of ponds.

The lotus plants on sale were of reasonable price. And this one was perfect so we now have one. The first of many I hope.

Werribee Mansion

The Werribee Mansion is also not far from home. But it has taken us a year to get to it.

The Mansion is as expected a large country estate from the past. We'll be going there again, as it has fine gardens and grounds.

Werribee Rose Gardens

The Rose Gardens are not far from home.
This year they are open after the drought.

They have a long way to go as I am use too the Te Awamutu rose gardens.

End of another year

Well it's come to the end of another year.
This year has been a very quiet one for us, not much adventure at all.

Alamanda Estate is still a very pleasant place to be living.
I go for a walk most morning when I'm not working. Although this changes next year as church will be in the mornings.

At the back of Alamanda is the wetlands , this is an area of about 10 acres in size and is made up of a series of inter-connecting ponds.

These ponds have really come to life this year as there has been plenty of water.

Quiet mornings in Melbourne

The morning starts with us all driving in to the city together. From the carpark, we all start to go our separate ways. But at 07:30 in the morning it can be very quiet time in the city. On peaceful morning the gallons are out, adding something special.

Time out to the Grampians

Last weekend with Melbourne cup day, Jennifer and myself took some time out.
We drove up to the Grampians only to find that most of the tracks and lookout I like going too were all closed due to the winter flooding.

The scenery was still great and it was pleasant day out, just the two of us.
