Little Drive to Genting Heights

Genting Heights is a resort set in the clouds. It was only about 30 Mins drive to get tot he turn off, another hour of twisting and turning to get to the top. A real strain on the engine going up. And the views were fanatantic, Sorry no pictures due to the rain and the heavy cloud cover. Still a very nice drive. The drive down only took about 20 mins but was a strain on the brakes. Plan is to come up sometime during the school holidays to enjoy the resort. this place is the only place the police station is a castle in the middle of the road? On the way home we found out why the traffic slows town in the rain. it becuase the rain can become so hard so fast that you cannot see where you are going, to dangerous to speed. Lesson learnt, don't turn passing bus when there a puddle ahead. Then don't slow down a the wave is big. Just about washed us off the road. But that another story...

yes we now have a rental Car. Day one was hell. We went to Shah Alam. Easy to get there On the way back we put the map down. Bad move. We ended up in the Heart of KL in a traffic Jam. Two hours later we finally got out of there. Lesson. Never go in the heart of KL. Park outside and get a Taxi

Traffic Jam from Hell in KL

Does KL have a traffic problem? Yes, this place has traffic problems all over the place. We were on the way home from Malacca and we came across this one. Three lane highway that was cut to one lane. The queue went for 12km..

Malacca Town of great history and cultures

Then onto Malacca. This is a town with so much history that it oozes it. First were the Sultan's, then Chinese, then Portuguese, then Dutch, Then English, then Japanese, ten English again, now the tourist....... First stop was a famous food shop for Chinese Chicken rice balls. This local speciality had people queuing up for it and Mike had arranged a table for us so we just walked in. This upset some of the tourist there. But the Meal was fantastic and only cost us about RM25 ($12NZ) all up. The museum has been a museum since 1880. So we went through the old church 1680' then toured the museum. The museum took 2 hours to get around and the history was fantastic. Then Stephan and myself went for a rickshaw ride around Chinatown and the old waterfront, then to finish up in the Portuguese area. While Mum went shopping. We all met back up again in the church courtyard. Finally got a photo with Stephan and myself with a python around us. Then to do some window shopping. The stuff he

Animals and Cowboys

The elephant show is good and you can see the elephant are enjoying themselves doing the tricks. The cages were clean and all the animals looked well cared for. Stephan even got to cuddle a snake...

Getting Lost in KL

Taking taxi's is the normal way that tourist get around in KL. Insist on the meter or just don't get in. But make sure the taxi driver know hwere you want ot go. We were traveling from the Petronas Tower to the bird Park last weekend. The driver got lost. So out came the map books. The driver also stopped the meter once he knew that we knew he was lost. So the ususal cost would have been about RM12 and cost us RM15. But we got to see a bit of the back streets around KL in the process.
