Mendip Goats and Kilmersdon Chruch

As the Cheddar Gorge had been a disappointment 

we head across tot he Mendip Gorge in the hope of seeing

 the Mountain Goats

Once out of that we headed to Kilmerdon

Home of the Jack and Jill rhyme

Uncle Michael was to have his Birthday Lunch here so we were to meet the Family here.

We got to Stool around the church before going to the local Pub for lunch.

The pub doesn;t look much but did some good food and the company was great too.

Cheddar Gorge

Cheddar Gorge has been on the wish list for while.
So we headed out to get there early int he morning
We plans to visit Family on the way back.

Overlooking the Wiscombe Valley on the way.

Once at Cheddar Gorge the town was small
with steam running through the heart of it.

The town was a tourist trap and not much else.

Then we walked in the gorge for a way before Driving the length of it.

It reminded for of the Waitomo region a lot. but smaller.

The only animals we saw were some goats.
Otherwise a lot of tourists.

Overall a disappointment

Portabello Road

After a quick train ride we were at Portabello Road.

Lunch was a Cuban Sandwich

Followed by Sweet Treats from the bakery.

As usual the street was very busy

Parliament House - Westminster

This required a booking the weeks in advance.
Tickets were booked and plans made.
So we got ont he train and headed for Victoria station

We got in early so we walked around St James Park.

Where we enjoyed the sights of Buckingham Palace

And the rare birds in St James Park.

We cut through the Household Guard to Whitehall

Where their are magnificent doors

Where we watched a film being made set in early port war England.
Something to do with Attlee's win in the 1945 elections.

The cars being used were beautifully restored.

Once in Parliament Square, I got to shot pictures of the Statues.

Westminster Abbey was looking great in the bright blue sky.

Outside Parliament 

Cromwell was standing tall

Once Inside, NO PHOTO's unless Approved.

So it was the Great chapel

And of course the  the only Photo's were from Westminster Hall to the Lobby.

It was well worth the cost and the Time
When we came out, we wanted Lunch
Portabello Road Called.

Tilbury Fort

The fort time forgot, so did the planners

To get there meant working our way around the back street of the Tilbury wharf

With Oil Rigs in at the Docks

And Cruise Ships in port.

Inside the fort, Not a lot is still their.

This is an English Heritage Site of Course

But you can imagine what was once there.

It has seen many wars ..

And was built a long time ago

Some is very modern.

Inside the tunnels we found empty rooms

The old powder stores had been setup to show what was possible.

The food store of course were empty

An assortment of guns were on show.

But the Chapel had been restored.

Rumors have it a film was made here.

Still an English Heritage Site that need TLC.
