Eating Out in South Yarra

While it has been a while since I have written about food in South Yarra.

Well we have found our Favourite restaurant. It is called Little India and it just around the corner from us. Indian food just the way we like it. Hot but not that hot it burns the throat. The flavours are fantastic. We go there at least once a month as it’s not to expensive either. Cost about $100 bucks to feed 6 Adult and that includes the drinks.

Across the road we have Nando and Crepe heaven. Nando’s for spicy Chicken on the Run. Crepe heaven for breakfast on a Saturday morning, or late at night, when you feel like you want to be just the two of you.. Crepe heaven has an old English pub atmosphere to it.

Just up the road is Soda Rock CafĂ©. It’s designed to be just like a 1950’s ice parlour in the USA. Great hamburgers and ice cream treats. Stephan Loves going there. Just around the corner from the we have the Golden Dragon restaurant. This place is not the most flashest place on earth but you have to queue to get in as the food is fantastic. Pays to go with a group so you can get lots of little specialist dishes to feast upon. Just two doors down from there, you have Grab-a-Thai. They serve fast Thai takeaways. No fish and chips there, just great real Thai food. Then next dorr you have Subways and then the Kabab Store. This place has all the middle eastern stuff. Again Great food.

Tonight we are heading the other direction. Will it be Greek or Spanish or Yum Cha tonight at Toorak. The one thing you know about this area. You don’t have to be rich to eat great food. Just let your nose do the walking.

Gleadell Street market

Stephan and I went to the Gleadell street Market.
This is a small farmers market in Richmond.
There is no Meat sold, but plenty of fruit and Vegetable.
This market specialises in supplies of bulk meduim grade fruit and vegetables.

In the photo in the bottom left are boxes of Apples. 8KG for $2.
We juiced then and they were great.
Looking forward to Summer when the tomatoes and summer fruit are cheap.
And it is only a 10 minute tram ride away.
