Scotland - Day Two - the drive to Onich.

The trip from Gretna Green to Onich was the have a large Detour
the Culzean Castle through the Galloway Forest Park
After the drive-through Galloway Forest
we finally mad to Culzean Castle.
This was recent, only built in the 1800'sthere was an older castle before it.

This was where Dwight Eisenhower would rest up during the war and even came after the war.
Surprisingly it wasn't as big as it looked.
It was military Castle as it was own and built by a general.
Who liked the military, But the castle has never been attacked
Plenty of guns around if it ever was attacked.
Knives, Swords and Guns everywhere.
and I mean they were everywhere
The house was set for the pre-WW2 period.
With some very nice Painting on the walls.
This one I have seen in the National Art Gallery
Even the bed looked comfortable.
Jennifer loved the space to dance around
And the furniture was beautiful.
The views along the Coast was unbelievable.
So after that, we went on to see  the following
The 18th-century childhood home of national poet Robert Burns.
Robert Burns Parents place was the actual home on display.
His father was an enterprising man, that wanted his children educated.
So he built a dairy and had cows,, selling butted and cream to the locals in town.
With the proceeds, he hired a tutor.
The tutor and Robert got along well
We learn how it was usually an assignment to write about the local people.
This is where he would later get his characters from
His siblings were not like him and struggled, but he grew to be a writer and Womaniser
His grave is also a bit over the top.
It was closed for us. on the day.
After this, we made the drive through to the Glencoe ranges.
Passing beautiful Loch's, ( the rain was falling so we didn't stop long)
But the Ranges roved to be a magnificent highlight.
and finish in Onich for the night
